As the title says, we are beginning the recording process of our first ever studio album recording. Please follow this space to learn more about the album concept, track progress, and to feed into the creative process.
We have already recorded the first single from the album and will be debuing it here on our website eluviatheband.com when it is finished. The first song is titled "Don't Walk it Alone (Featuring Jason G.L. Chu)" This song is a fusion of folk-rock, reggae, and hip-hop. I'm tenatively calling this style "One Drop, Hip-Hop, Folk Rock".
The concept of the album is story. In particular, how we're all in the middle of the story of our lives. Humans are extremly relational beings. We all have this longing to be in community with people. Shame and fear often keep us from really sharing our lives with each other and walking together. There is a pressure to have things "figured out" before we can really share that hard thing that we're going through. We'll often wait until our story has a nice ending before we're willing to share it. What if we stop all this and start sharing our story when we're right in the middle of it? Share it without having a nice answer or "figuring it all out"?
The songs that we've selected for this album explore this concept. Many of these songs were written from the middle of our own stories. They are open, honest, and vounerable. Don't get me wrong, they're not all negative by any means, but they tell the truth of the struggles we've gone through.

After a week in the studio and a weekend of editing and overdubs, here it is! Eluvia's first studio project.
Eluvia is getting ready to record a full length album in a multi art medium project. As a band, we initially planned to record and release one of the songs that would appear on the album. This is a typical stragety to rase awareness of the project by giving people a taste of what is to come. Two weeks ago in the middle of the night I got this crazy idea that instead of releasing one of the album tracks as a single, we could release our previously performed arrangement of Silent Night and release that for free during the Holidays.
This is our gift to you. Feel free to download this for free, share the link with friends, like us on facebook and all that good stuff.
